Look
back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the
progression from it to the full product?
In
the time between completing the final product and shooting the preliminary I
learned how to use After Effects. I had a vague idea of how to use the program
before the prelim, however learning After Effects full potential is like
learning the words of a foreign language, and knowing how to put the words
together. Over the course of shooting Gaia's Army editing the time lapse, earth
zoom, Venturay ident has really enlighten to me the programs potential but
exploding the macbook's screen and going inside to the digital world really
taught me how to use it.
I
have also learned how to use other new programs, such as premier pro in depth,
and others such as adobe audition and encore, logic pro 9 however only as a
scratch on the surface.
However I also learned various things
non-digital. Firstly is how to operate a steady-cam - I bought one for Psyched,
my long term film project, which I then experimented with and learned how to
use during the filming of the interactive trailer.
Along with this I learned how to shoot a
panning time lapse which was required for the opening shot.
ADR
is another form of movie-making which was new to me over the course of Gaia's
Army which I have now learned.
Lastly most of the technologies I used to
answer the evaluation questions were completely new to me - Skype, Soundcloud,
Pinterest, Photoshop, and Prezi. The only formats I was previously familiar
with was the greenscreening and photoshop.
